Demonstration greenhouse Myanmar, fruity vegetables

Six Dutch companies, active in horticulture, have set up a demonstration greenhouse in Myanmar with German development funds.

The subsidy has been granted by the ‘Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit’, part of the German department of economic affairs.

The fact that no German participants are involved in the project, did not make any difference to the German Ministry of Economic Affairs. The development of Myanmar is considered important.

The Dutch participants are Larive International, Rijk Zwaan, Koppert, Priva, VEK Adviesgroep and Delphy. The greenhouse is already supplying horticultural products to City Mart, the largest supermarket chain in the country. Export to the neighboring countries China and India are taken into consideration.

VEK Adviesgroep was involved in this turnkey project from start to finish. Together with the project partners a multifunctional greenhouse has been designed and delivered which is equipped with a unique climate and irrigation system for Myanmar standards. The greenhouse and installations must enable the grower to cultivate various high-quality fruiting vegetables with minimal use of plant protection products and the most economical use of water and fertilizers.
