Grants & subsidies
The Dutch horticultural sector has a large number of financial regulations, grants and subsidies. Examples of these would be: EIA (grants for using energy saving techniques), MIA (grants for using environmental friendly techniques), Green Finance or specific grants for sustainable energy. For projects abroad some regulations are comparable to the Dutch situation or they can easily be implemented in the local circumstances. It is necessary however, to engage the assistance of a local consultant to ensure that optimum use is made of available grants abroad.
In addition, VEK is involved in regulations that mainly focus on sustainable cooperation in The Netherlands and abroad, such as PSI. PSI is a subsidy programme which is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Development cooperation) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs. PSI has two purposes: On the one hand it focuses on stimulating sustainable economic development in emerging markets in Africa, Asia, Southern Europe, Central- and Eastern Europe. On the other hand the programme contributes to the positioning of Dutch business in these markets.
